Ok, I did some upgrade testing with WordPress this weekend. After testing under a development setting the live website went online this morning. Additionally I installed W3 Total Cache.

So if there are any problems on the website, please contact me. ;-)

License Plates site integrated

I spent the last evenings with a complete relaunch of the License Plates site. The site is now fully integrated into the Sebald.com website. The old layout was almost 10 years old – framesets and popups and not state-of-the-art for years now.

When there is time, but this could take several months or years, I plan to redo the plate pictures (for most of the plates the original scan image is still there). Reason: bigger pictures, no more black backgrounds but transparency if possible, better quality. Also I want to look over the state links and there is also some minor stuff I want to put online. We will see… ;-)

IPv6 Enabled

Seit einigen Monaten sind die hot-chilli.net Webserver auch per IPv6 erreichbar – und somit auch Sebald.com. Dies betrifft nicht nur die Webserverdienste sondern auch Mail, DNS, FTP, Jabber. Also alle Dienste, die hot-chilli.net anbietet. So sind wir, und damit eben auch diese Webseite, auf die Zukunft eingestellt. IPv6 wird kommen, die Frage ist nur: wann genau… ;-)

Um das Thema ein bisschen mehr ins Rampenlicht zu rücken, gibt es seit heute im Menü auf der rechten Seite unter dem Counter ein kleines IPv6 Enabled Logo. Dieses zeigt dem Benutzer auch an, wenn er noch mit IPv4 unterwegs ist.

Ach ja, SixXS bietet übrigens IPv6-Tunneldienste an für alle, deren Internetserviceprovider kein natives IPv6 anbietet – was leider momentan die meisten ISPs noch nicht tun.

WordPress 2.7 und Gallery 2.3

Habe mich am Wochenende hingesetzt und Sebald.com auf WordPress 2.7 sowie Gallery 2.3 aktualisiert.

Auch das WordPress Theme wurde dabei auf 2.7 aktualisiert um einige der neuen Funktionen nutzen zu können.

Today the all new Sebald.com website went online! Work over months did precede – usually there is not much time for these kind of projects so it mostly takes a while.

The only techniques beyond this website are WordPress with several plugins, Gallery2 and the Viper Guestbook. Only the license plate site runs on a seperate self programmed system.

Tobias Albrecht, thank you very very much for the great WordPress theme! Without this help this project would not have been possible.

There is not much new or updated content, this will follow in the near future.

Neue Blog-Software online

Leider ging es mit der alten Software bBlog nicht mehr. Spam ohne Ende und keine richtige Chance auf Besserung über Programmfeatures, ausserdem Programmfehler.

Deswegen geht’s nun weiter mit b2evolution, eine Software, die im Gegensatz zu bBlog gepflegt wird und ausserdem viele Features aufweist.

Mal gucken ob alles so läuft wie ich mir das vorstelle… ;-)

Neues Layout online!

Ja, endlich hab ich es geschafft und mich von meinem nun schon arg in die Jahre gekommenen Layout getrennt. Frameseiten sind einfach nicht mehr State-of-the-Art, da musste nun einfach eine richtig schöne Seite, die auf CSS, PHP und MySQL basiert, an den Start. Nach wie vor finde ich dunkles Layout besser, habe nun aber trotzdem mal den Schritt gewagt und mich für ein helles und übersichtliches Layout entschieden. Ich hoffe, die neue Seite findet halbwegs Eure Zustimmung, über Lob und natürlich auch Tadel freue ich mich immer, Gästebuch und Kontaktformular warte auf Eure Kommentare.

Die Nummernschilderseite ist immer noch im alten Layout und wird es auch erstmal bleiben. Ich finde, hier passt nichts in der Art wie es nun auf der restlichen Seite zu sehen ist. Nur muss ich dort natürlich auch noch die Frames wegmachen, aber eines nach dem anderen.

100%ig perfekt ist die neue Seite auch noch nicht, es muss noch einiges optimiert werden. Fallen Euch also irgendwelche Fehler auf, bitte mich wissen lassen! :-)

Alle Welt bloggt, Martin will mitbloggen. Wobei das nicht der einzige Grund ist. Es gibt einfach zu viele erwähnenswerte, tolle, verrückte, kranke und was weiß ich für Dinge, die einem im Internet über den Weg laufen.
